Self Chain Mainnet v2: CosmWasm Smart Contract Integration & Official Upgrade Timeline

We're excited to announce that the Governance Proposal to enable CosmWasm smart contracts on Self Chain Mainnet v2 will be live tomorrow!

After a highly successful Testnet Phase 2, with over 2.5 million transactions and 150 active validators, we’re ready to bring modular, scalable, and secure smart-contract capabilities powered by CosmWasm to the Self Chain ecosystem.

What the Mainnet v2 Upgrade Brings

This significant upgrade introduces:

Modular Smart Contract Execution: Efficient, developer-friendly contracts optimized for performance and composability.
Cross-Chain Interoperability: Seamless interaction across Cosmos-based chains via native IBC support.
Enhanced Security: Advanced safeguards against common smart contract vulnerabilities and exploits.

Once governance approves, Self Chain Mainnet v2 will enable permissionless CosmWasm smart contract deployments, opening the door to extensive innovation.

Estimated Halt Time: April 18, 2025, ~11:08:09 UTC

Instructions for Validators & Node Operators

To successfully perform this upgrade, validators need to:

Download and prepare the latest mainnet-v2.0.0 binary with CosmWasm enabled (available on the Self Chain Releases page).
Before proceeding, wait for the governance proposal approval (April 16, 2025, 11:00 UTC).
Be prepared for the scheduled chain halt at Block #4,805,959, estimated on April 18, 2025, 11:08:09 UTC.
Immediately after the halt at this block height, switch over and restart your validator nodes with the new binary.

Cosmovisor Users:

Ensure Cosmovisor is appropriately configured with the new binary for a seamless transition.

Validators are encouraged to monitor the network post-upgrade to ensure stable operations and normal block production.

Participate in Governance Voting

Your participation is crucial for the upgrade’s success. Here’s how you can vote:

Connect your Keplr wallet and vote on the proposal titled "Self Chain Mainnet v2 Upgrade"

Voting Period: April 11, 2025 (11:00 UTC) → April 16, 2025 (11:00 UTC)

Upgrade Success Criteria

For a secure and successful launch, the following criteria must be satisfied:

Validators representing at least 67% of the total staked $SLF must be active.
A minimum of 50 validators must participate in the consensus.
The Beta network must run successfully for at least 10 consecutive days prior to launch without significant disruptions.
No unresolved critical security vulnerabilities in the 10 days before launch.
Availability of a public block explorer (Mintscan).
Integration with non-custodial wallets (e.g., Keplr) supporting native $SLF tokens.
Successful CosmWasm smart contract testing on testnet.
Comprehensive developer documentation and tools are publicly available.
Official community approval via governance.
