Governance & Infrastructure
Proposal for Mainnet V2 Upgrade Went Live
The last two weeks began with one of the most important milestones in Self Chain’s technical roadmap: the formal submission of the Mainnet V2 upgrade proposal.
After two successful phases of testing, including over 3.5 million transactions and 150+ active validators, the governance process was initiated to bring CosmWasm smart contracts to mainnet. The proposal outlined a path to enabling secure, permissionless, and cross-chain interoperable applications, turning Self Chain into a programmable execution environment for modular dApps.
This marked the beginning of a new chapter, signaling that Self Chain is ready to open up its infrastructure to builders.

Mainnet Upgrade Proposal Got Approved
The governance vote ran from April 11 to April 16 and passed unanimously with 100% YES votes and quorum achieved.
With the proposal approved, the upgrade to Mainnet V2 was scheduled for block height 4,805,959, expected to occur on April 18 at 11:08 UTC. This upgrade was set to formally activate CosmWasm, giving developers the ability to deploy smart contracts directly on Self Chain for the first time.
The outcome affirms the community’s alignment around building a developer-friendly, smart contract-enabled Layer 1, positioning Self Chain for broader use cases across DeFi, gaming, and agent automation.

Validator Restart Guide Published
Following the scheduled upgrade, the network experienced a temporary halt due to coordination inconsistencies and validator setup discrepancies.
The core team quickly resolved the issue through a coordinated rollback and the release of a new deterministic binary. Validators were supported with a comprehensive Restart Guide, allowing them to bring their infrastructure back online safely and resume participation.
The network has since been stabilized, with CosmWasm support confirmed on-chain.
